William Hamilton of Bangour

William Hamilton of Bangour was a Scottish poet and Jacobite who was forced into exile after the rising of 1745 and died at Lyons in 1754.

His ballad The Braes of Yarrow, a lament modelled on the older Border ballads, is printed in full by Gilfillan.
