Alfred Hayes

1857–1936

Alfred Hayes (1857–1936) was an English poet and translator, born at Wolverhampton.

The poems here are taken from Alfred H. Miles (ed.), The Poets and the Poetry of the Century (London: Hutchinson, 1891–1897), vol. 8, from the Internet Archive scans of that edition. Spelling is that of the anthology; Miles's biographical essay and extracts from longer poems are omitted, and only poems that could be read cleanly from the scan are included.

  1. To Sweet Seventeen
  2. The Confession
  3. Friendship
