Heinrich von Rugge

fl. c. 1175–1190

Heinrich von Rugge, a Swabian knight of the later twelfth century, wrote love songs and a long religious leich calling on Christians to take the Cross, probably composed in 1190.

One of his songs appears here in Frank C. Nicholson’s translation, Old German Love Songs (1907), made from the minnesingers of the twelfth to fourteenth centuries.
