William Walsham How

1823–1897

William Walsham How (1823–1897) was an English Anglican bishop and hymn-writer.

The poems here are taken from Alfred H. Miles (ed.), The Poets and the Poetry of the Century (London: Hutchinson, 1891–1897), vol. 10, from the Internet Archive scans of that edition. Spelling is that of the anthology; Miles's biographical essay and extracts from longer poems are omitted, and only poems that could be read cleanly from the scan are included.

  1. Jesus at the Door
  2. And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead.
  3. The New Jerusalem
