Ford Madox Hueffer

1873–1939

Ford Madox Hueffer (1873–1939), the name printed in this anthology, was an English novelist, editor and poet who later styled himself Ford Madox Ford. He edited the English Review and is best known for the novels The Good Soldier (1915) and Parade's End.

He served in the First World War, and his war poems, such as Clair de Lune here, use free verse to catch the experience of the trenches. The poems come from Untermeyer's Modern British Poetry (1920).
