Eva Mary Kelly

1826–1910

Eva Mary Kelly (1826–1910), the daughter of a Galway gentleman, wrote for The Nation as "Eva". She waited for her fiancé, Kevin Izod O'Doherty, through his sentence of transportation after 1848, and married him two days after his return.

The poems here are taken from H. Halliday Sparling's anthology Irish Minstrelsy (London: Walter Scott, 1888).
