Charles Kingsley

1819–1875

Charles Kingsley (1819–1875) was an English clergyman, novelist, and poet, remembered as a children's author for The Water-Babies and as a muscular-Christian social reformer.

His poems range from the classical narrative Andromeda, written in unrhymed hexameters, to plain-spoken ballads and songs of the sea and English rural life.
