Ernst Lange

Ernst Lange (1650–1727) was a German hymn-writer whose “O Gott, du Tiefe sonder Grund” appears in the Herrnhuth Collection (No. 9) and in Knapp’s Evangelischer Liederschatz.

The single piece here is John Wesley’s English translation, printed in Hymns and Sacred Poems (1739); Osborn’s footnote names Lange as the author of the German original.
