Joachim Lange

Joachim Lange (1670–1744) was a pietist theologian at Halle and a hymn-writer; his “O Jesu, süßes Licht” appears in the Herrnhuth Collection (No. 308) and in Knapp’s Evangelischer Liederschatz.

The single piece here is John Wesley’s English translation, printed in Hymns and Sacred Poems (1739); Osborn’s footnote names Joachim Lange as the author of the German original.
