Richard Leveridge
Richard Leveridge (1670–1758) was an English bass singer, actor and composer, long a mainstay of the London theatres in the early eighteenth century. He composed theatre songs and published them as a Collection of Songs with the Musick (1727).
He is remembered above all for the patriotic song in praise of old English roast beef, printed in The British Musical Miscellany in 1735.
