Victorian
Amy Levy
Amy Levy (1861–1889) was an English poet and novelist, among the first Jewish women to study at Cambridge, who took her own life at twenty-seven.
Her poems of London street life, unrequited love, and urban melancholy anticipate the modern lyric's compression and irony.
