William James Linton
William James Linton (1812–1897) was an English-born wood-engraver, landscape painter, political reformer and author who settled in the United States and also wrote poetry.
The poems here are taken from Alfred H. Miles (ed.), The Poets and the Poetry of the Century (London: Hutchinson, 1891–1897), vol. 4, from the Internet Archive scans of that edition. Spelling is that of the anthology; Miles's biographical essay and extracts from longer poems are omitted, and only poems that could be read cleanly from the scan are included.
