John E. Logan ("Barry Dane")

born 1852

John E. Logan, who wrote under the pen-name Barry Dane, was born in Hamilton, Canada, in 1852. He later settled in Montreal, where he worked as an insurance adjuster, and spent some years in the Canadian North-West.

His poems appeared in Canadian newspapers and periodicals but, as Stedman noted in 1895, were never collected in a book. A Victorian Anthology prints several of them.

  1. The Nor'-West Courier
  2. A Blood-Red Ring Hung round the Moon
  3. A Dead Singer
