George Lunt (1803–1885) was a Newburyport, Massachusetts, lawyer, poet and politician, a graduate of Harvard.

Griswold included 6 of his poems in The Poets and Poetry of America (16th edition, Philadelphia: Parry & McMillan, 1855), the anthology from which the poems here are taken.
