Katherine Mansfield

1888–1923

Katherine Mansfield (Kathleen Beauchamp, 1888–1923) was born in Wellington, New Zealand, and left for England as a young woman. Living and working in London, she became one of the most admired short-story writers in English, publishing collections such as Bliss and The Garden Party.

She wrote verse only in occasional bursts, often under pseudonyms, and her Poems were gathered after her death at Fontainebleau, France, in 1923 and first published in London that year.
