Denis Florence MacCarthy

1817–1882

Denis Florence MacCarthy (1817–1882), born in Dublin, was a barrister and poet who contributed to The Nation in its early days. He published volumes of original verse and translations, including a well-known version of Calderón's dramas.

The poems here are taken from H. Halliday Sparling's anthology Irish Minstrelsy (London: Walter Scott, 1888).
