Grenville Mellen

1799–1841

Grenville Mellen (1799–1841) was a lawyer and poet, born in Biddeford, Maine, the son of Chief Justice Prentiss Mellen.

Griswold included 5 of his poems in The Poets and Poetry of America (16th edition, Philadelphia: Parry & McMillan, 1855), the anthology from which the poems here are taken.
