Michael Og O’Longain

fl. 1798

Michael Og O’Longain belonged, Sigerson says in Bards of the Gael and Gall (1907), to a respectable and learned family, and settled near Carrignavar in Co. Cork. He took part in the insurrection of 1798 and narrowly escaped death.

His “Song of the Dead Insurgent” is given here in Sigerson’s English version.
