Mir Hasan
The book gives his name as Mir Shulam Hasan (that is, Ghulam Hasan), born at Delhi, who passed his youth in Faizabad and then came to Lucknow to join the literary circle there. It describes him as handsome in person as in mind, and says his verse is still popular. He wrote as Hasan.
The one piece given here is drawn from Hindustani Lyrics (London: The Sufi Publishing Society, 1919), in the English verse of Inayat Khan and Jessie Duncan Westbrook. It is a free rendering, not a literal translation, and the original Urdu poem is untitled; it is named here by its first line.
