James Graham, Marquess of Montrose
James Graham, 1st Marquess of Montrose (1612–1650), was a Scottish nobleman and Royalist general in the Civil Wars, executed in Edinburgh in 1650.
His verse, a few lyrics and a famous epitaph for Charles I, has outlived most of his contemporaries’ more ambitious work.
