Michael Mullen

1833–1869

Michael Mullen (1833–1869) was a priest and song-writer born at Kilmore, County Galway, who died at Chicago. Sparling notes that the Society for the Preservation of the Irish Language was then working against the fears he voices in "The Celtic Tongue".

The poems here are taken from H. Halliday Sparling's anthology Irish Minstrelsy (London: Walter Scott, 1888).
