John Oxenham

John Oxenham was the pen name of William Arthur Dunkerley (1852–1941), an English journalist, novelist and poet, born in Manchester. His devotional verse was widely read, notably in the collection Bees in Amber (1913).

The poems printed here are those given in The Oxford Book of English Mystical Verse (1917), edited by D. H. S. Nicholson and A. H. E. Lee; the text is taken from that anthology.
