Parrhasius

fl. c. 400 BC

Parrhasius of Ephesus was a celebrated Greek painter of the late fifth century BC, active in Athens and a rival of Zeuxis. No work of his survives.

The boastful lines on the limits of his art that the Greek Anthology ascribes to him are of uncertain authenticity. Mackail prints one of them in his Select Epigrams (1890).
