Thomas Phaer

c. 1510–1560

Thomas Phaer was a lawyer and physician who wrote on medicine and began a verse translation of Virgil’s Aeneid, which he left unfinished at his death (Thomas Twyne completed it). He contributed the legend of Owen Glendower to A Mirror for Magistrates.

The poem here is taken from Joseph Haslewood’s 1815 reprint of Part III, where it is signed Th. Ph.
