Philip V, King of Macedon

238 – 179 BC

Philip V was king of Macedon from 221 BC until his death in 179 BC. The Greek Anthology preserves under his name a mocking couplet written in answer to an epigram of Alcaeus of Messene.

This archive carries the 1 epigram ascribed to the poet in the fifth volume of W. R. Paton's prose translation (Loeb, 1918): Book XVI: 26b.
