Johann Andreas Rothe

Johann Andreas Rothe (1688–1758) was a German pastor and hymn-writer; his “Ich habe nun den Grund gefunden” (1722) was written while he served at Berthelsdorf, where Count Zinzendorf was patron.

The single piece here is John Wesley’s abridged English translation, printed in Hymns and Sacred Poems (1740); Osborn’s footnote names Rothe as the author of the German original.
