Rüştü Onur

1920–1942

Rüştü Onur was born in 1920 in Devrek, in the Zonguldak region of Turkey's Black Sea coast. He died of tuberculosis in 1942, aged 22. His friend Muzaffer Tayyip Uslu, another young poet from Zonguldak who also died young of the disease, is remembered beside him: anthologies have long presented the two together as the 'poets of Zonguldak'.

His poems were gathered after his death; a posthumous collection was published by Yeditepe Yayınları in 1956. This is a first instalment of four poems, not his complete poems. The texts are the original Turkish, taken from tr.wikisource.org.
