Benjamin Schmolck

Benjamin Schmolck was born at Brauchitschdorf in Silesia in 1672 and died at Schweidnitz in 1737. A Lutheran pastor, he served at Schweidnitz from 1702 and became one of the most prolific hymn writers of his age, with well over a thousand hymns to his name.
