Shâhin Girây (Khan of the Crimea)

d. 1789

Shahin Giray, the last of the Khans of the Crimea, was a talented and accomplished prince who lacked political foresight; after losing his throne he fled to Constantinople and was executed at Rhodes.

The poems here are taken from E. J. W. Gibb's Ottoman Poems (1882), the first English verse translations of Ottoman poetry; dates and biographical details follow Gibb's Biographical Notices.
