Benjamin Stillingfleet

Benjamin Stillingfleet (1702–1771) was an English naturalist and writer, a friend of Elizabeth Montagu and her circle of learned women.

The sonnet given here, addressed to his friend Williamson, was written in 1746 and printed in Todd's edition of Milton (1801).
