J. M. Synge
John Millington Synge (1871–1909) was an Irish playwright and poet, best known for Riders to the Sea and The Playboy of the Western World (1907), plays written for the Abbey Theatre in the speech of the west of Ireland.
He wrote only a small body of verse, collected in Poems and Translations (1909), the year of his death. The poems here come from Untermeyer's Modern British Poetry (1920); his version from Petrarch is not included.
