Tadg O’Bruadin

fl. 1580

Tadg O’Bruadin was a bard whom Sigerson, in Bards of the Gael and Gall (1907), dates to 1580. The poem given here is part of a longer address to Doncad O’Brien, fourth Earl of Thomond, on his election as chieftain of his clan.

Sigerson points to the plain speaking of the bard’s advice to a ruler. “A King’s Lesson” is given in his English version.
