Aurelian Townshend

Aurelian Townshend (born by 1583, died after 1643) was an English court poet of the reign of Charles I. He wrote the masques Albion’s Triumph and Tempe Restored (both 1632) and a handful of songs that were set to music and circulated in manuscript.

His poems were first gathered and edited by E. K. Chambers in 1912. Herbert Grierson included two of them in Metaphysical Lyrics & Poems of the Seventeenth Century (1921).
