Tso Ssŭ
Tso Ssŭ lived in the third century AD. Waley’s two versions are “Day Dreams,” in which he recalls his youthful ambition, and “The Scholar in the Narrow Street,” a poem of poverty and neglect.
The poems here are Arthur Waley’s versions in A Hundred and Seventy Chinese Poems (1918), given with the poet’s name as spelled in those books.
