Thomas Tusser

c. 1524–1580

Thomas Tusser was an English farmer and poet who also worked, at different times, as a chorister, a courtier and a schoolmaster. He farmed in Suffolk, Essex and elsewhere with little lasting success.

He is remembered for his rhymed farming manual, A Hundreth Good Pointes of Husbandrie (1557), later enlarged as Five Hundreth Pointes of Good Husbandrie. Gilfillan's Specimens prints two short pieces from it.

  1. Housewifely Physic
  2. Moral Reflections on the Wind
