Sidney Walker

1795–1846

Sidney Walker (1795–1846) was an English critic and scholar, remembered for his textual studies of Shakespeare's verse. He also wrote occasional verse.

The poem here is the one printed under his name in Frederick Locker's Lyra Elegantiarum (London: E. Moxon, 1867), an anthology of vers de société and vers d'occasion by deceased authors; the texts follow that first edition.

  1. To a Girl in Her Thirteenth Year
  2. Too solemn for day, too sweet for night
  3. Death's Alchemy
