Samuel Wesley the Younger

1690–1739

Samuel Wesley the younger (1690–1739), the eldest son of the rector of Epworth and elder brother of John and Charles Wesley, was an usher at Westminster School and later headmaster of Blundell's School at Tiverton. He is not to be confused with his father, Samuel Wesley the elder (1662–1735), also a poet.

He wrote hymns, satires and epigrams, collected in Poems on Several Occasions (1736), and was a friend of Francis Atterbury, Bishop of Rochester.
