Helen Hay Whitney (1875–1944) was an American poet and philanthropist, the daughter of the statesman and author John Hay. In 1902 she married the financier Payne Whitney, and she later became prominent in New York society, as a breeder of racehorses, and as a benefactor of medical research.

She published four books of verse between 1898 and 1910: Some Verses (London, 1898, issued under the name Helen Hay), Sonnets and Songs (1905), Gypsy Verses (1907) and Herbs and Apples (1910). Her poems are chiefly short lyrics and sonnets of love, longing and the open road.
