James Chapman Woods

James Chapman Woods was a Victorian poet and writer, author of A Child of the People and Other Poems (1879), a guide to Swansea and the Mumbles, Gower and other places (1883), and In Foreign Byways (1887).

He also lectured on old and rare books. The poem here is taken from Edmund Clarence Stedman’s A Victorian Anthology, 1837–1895 (1895).
