John Wootton
John Wootton is known only as the signer of two pastoral songs in England's Helicon (1600). A. H. Bullen reports that Brydges supposed him to be Sir John Wotton, half-brother of Sir Henry Wotton, a gentleman knighted by Queen Elizabeth who died young; the identification is a supposition.
Both poems here, "Damsetas' Jig in praise of his Love" and "Damsetas' Madrigal in praise of his Daphnis", are from that anthology, as printed in Bullen's 1887 edition.
