Christopher Wordsworth

1807–1885

Christopher Wordsworth (1807–1885) was an English Anglican bishop, a nephew of William Wordsworth, and a hymn-writer.

The poems here are taken from Alfred H. Miles (ed.), The Poets and the Poetry of the Century (London: Hutchinson, 1891–1897), vol. 10, from the Internet Archive scans of that edition. Spelling is that of the anthology; Miles's biographical essay and extracts from longer poems are omitted, and only poems that could be read cleanly from the scan are included.

  1. Gracious Spirit, Holy Ghost
  2. O lord of heaven, and earth, and sea
