Bartholomew Yong
Bartholomew Yong (or Young) translated Jorge de Montemayor's Spanish pastoral romance Diana into English. A. H. Bullen records that the manuscript was finished on 1 May 1583 and that the translation was published in 1598.
England's Helicon (1600) prints some two dozen of the verse passages from his Diana over the signature "Bar. Yong"; Bullen's notes say they are taken from that translation. The poems here are all from that anthology, as printed in Bullen's 1887 edition, and are Yong's English versions of Montemayor's Spanish verse.
