Alliterative homily · late 14th century
Cleanness
Clannesse
A homily in some 1,800 alliterative lines on purity, in which God rejects those who come unclean to his presence. It tells the parable of the wedding feast and retells three Old Testament judgements: the Flood, the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, and Belshazzar's feast with the profaned vessels of the Temple.
