The Third Part of King Henry the Sixth

by William Shakespeare

Henry VI, weak and pious, disinherits his own son in favour of the Duke of York, setting the Wars of the Roses ablaze: York is taunted and slain at Wakefield, the king watches the carnage from a molehill at Towton, and Warwick the Kingmaker changes sides when Edward IV marries for love. Edward's victory at Tewkesbury closes the play, with Gloucester, the future Richard III, murdering the captive Henry in the Tower.
