The Tragedy of King Richard the Second
Richard II banishes Bolingbroke and Mowbray, seizes the estate of the dying John of Gaunt, and sails for Ireland, only to find on his return that the exiled Bolingbroke has come home with an army. Deposed in Westminster Hall and imprisoned, Richard loses his crown to the man who becomes Henry IV. He is murdered at Pomfret Castle by Sir Pierce of Exton, and Henry is left to mourn the deed he wished for.
