The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet

by William Shakespeare

In Verona, the children of two feuding houses, Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet, fall in love at a masked ball and marry in secret with the help of Friar Lawrence. When Tybalt kills Mercutio and Romeo kills Tybalt, Romeo is banished, and Juliet, pressed to marry Paris, takes a sleeping potion that makes her seem dead. The message to Romeo goes astray, and both lovers die in the tomb, ending their parents' quarrel too late.
