Twelfth Night; or, What You Will

by William Shakespeare

Shipwrecked on the coast of Illyria, Viola disguises herself as the page Cesario and enters the service of Duke Orsino, who loves the Countess Olivia, who in turn falls for the disguised Viola. Meanwhile Olivia's kinsmen and servants gull her pompous steward Malvolio with a forged love letter, while Viola's twin brother Sebastian, believed drowned, turns up to untangle the confusions of identity and desire. Feste the fool sings the songs that frame the play's wistful mirth.
