Love
The Shepherd's Consort
From England's Helicon (1600), ed. A. H. Bullen (1887)
Hark, jolly shepherds.
Hark yon lusty ringing!
How cheerfully the bells dance.
The whilst the lads are springing!
Go we then, why sit we here delaying?
And all yond merry wanton lasses playing?
How gaily Flora leads it,
And sweetly treads it?
The woods and groves they ring.
Lovely resounding
With echoes sweet rebounding.
