Book XVI, 355: On the Same
Translated by W. R. Paton (1916–18) · From The Greek Anthology (Loeb, vol. V, 1918)
Nor yet has Fortune worthily rewarded thy hard-won victories, for thy victories are greater than the prizes that have fallen to thee. But remain now in this, the first of the factions, the more constant and more excellent, consuming the envious hearts of our enemies, who, seeing thy whip ever victorious, never cease to blame their own recklessness.
