Love
Book V, 194
Translated by W. R. Paton (1916–18) · From The Greek Anthology (Loeb, vol. I, 1916)
The Loves themselves escorted soft Irene as she issued from the golden chamber of Cypris, a holy flower of beauty from head to fovt, as though carved of white marble, laden with virgin graces. Full many an arrow to a young man’s heart did they let fly from their purple bow-strings.
This translation is printed as prose in its source edition.
